Following presentations at the ENTECH and PLASA trade shows, Dave Swallow will deliver his ‘Art of Mixing a Show: Technique’ masterclass at the Alchemea College of Audio Engineering, London, on 31 October. [6 OCTOBER UPDATE: This event will now take place on 7 November]

Presided over by the renowned live sound engineer, whose credits include Amy Winehouse and Seasick Steve, the all-day event will explore topics including: the neglected building blocks of a mix – their purpose and how to put them together; synthetic reverbs and how to adapt them to any environment; and how to create space in a dry, flat mix.

Swallow will also use the masterclass as an opportunity to host the next instalment of his ‘Audio Think Tank’, in which audio pros, semi-pros and other interested parties can share ideas in a live, interactive forum.

“Engineers, mixers and the people on the front line of this industry sometimes get left behind by new products and technological advances. This is their chance to talk about what we do, how we do it, and why we do it,” explained Swallow.

Tickets for the Masterclass plus attendance at the Audio Think Tank cost £28 and can be booked online via the Alchemea website. The event will take place at the Alchemea College of Audio Engineering, The Windsor Centre, Windsor Street, London N1 8QG, on Monday 7 November from 11am-5pm.
