It will be an exciting Broadcast Video Expo (BVE) North for Audio-Technica this year. The event, which begins today and runs until tomorrow at Manchester Central, will be the first opportunity for the UK to see the company’s new AT5040 studio vocal microphone, launched at AES in October. The microphone features a proprietary element design, with four ultra-thin (two micron) rectangular elements that function together as one, providing twice the surface area as a standard one-inch circular diaphragm – the largest element the company has ever made. Additionally, the company’s product and training specialist Logan Helps will be discussing techniques for sports broadcasting, and providing insight into the use of Audio-Technica microphones during the London 2012 Olympics. At the beginning of the year, the company was named as the exclusive UK distributor for Allen & Heath. As such, the XB-10 broadcast mixer will also be on display on the Audio-Technica stand during BVE North.

Looking ahead to BVE North 2012

Only a few weeks away, Broadcast Video Expo North will take place in Manchester on 13-14 November. Among the 33 new brands at this year’s show are German pro-audio companies DirectOut, RTW and Jünger Audio.

First pair of AT5040s sold in the UK

Intrigued by the four rectangular diaphragm design, Surrey-based Richmond Film Services has snapped up the UK’s first two of Audio-Technica’s flagship 50-series microphones, launched at AES in October.
