Dr. Amar Bose was a sound engineer, electrical engineer and founder of well-known audio brand Bose Corporation. He passed away on 12 July in Wayland, Mass. “We are deeply saddened to announce that Dr. Amar Bose has passed away,” Bob Maresca, president of Bose Corporation, said in a statement. “It is impossible to put into words what Dr. Bose meant to each of us, and to Bose. He was more than our chairman. He was our teacher – always encouraging us, always believing that we could do great things, and that anything was possible. “Dr. Bose founded Bose Corporation almost 50 years ago with a set of guiding principles that never changed, and never will. Bose Corporation will remain privately held, and stay true to his ideals. We are as committed to this as he was to us. His vision is our history, and our future, and Bose Corporation will forever be his company. “Dr. Bose was an incredible mentor and inspiration to Bose employees around the world. Today, and every day going forward, our hearts are with him, and our work will honour him. Dr. Bose’s discoveries revolutionised industries, and his generous spirit changed people’s lives. There is no end to the good he has done. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family.”
