More than 300 exhibitors took place in the AES Convention, which incorporated workshops, technical tours, panels and special events alongside the exhibition component.

San Francisco’s Moscone Center was the venue for the 129th AES Convention, product highlights from which were compiled on a previous PSN-e story that can be read here: http://www.prosoundnewseurope.com/main-content/full/aes-129-if-you-ve-been-to-san-francisco.

A variety of new features – including the Product Design Track and the expanded Live Sound, Broadcast/Streaming and Game Audio Tracks – are thought to have contributed to the success of this year’s US Convention.

“AES continues to represent the interests of the most serious, most influential and most advanced audience for professional audio gear and technology,” said AES executive director Roger Furness. “The growing appreciation for the quality of our technical programmes, coupled with a palpable sense of community and an improving business climate continues to make the AES Convention a bellwether for positive developments in the world of professional audio.

“The unique sense of community generated by our Conventions is a testament to the spirit and commitment of our all-volunteer team, which shouldered double responsibilities for their primary day-jobs and their Convention responsibilities. Convention Co-Chairs Valerie Tyler and Jim McTigue and the entire 23-member Committee should be lauded for the time and energy they devoted to this hugely successful endeavour.”

Alan Veniscofsky, director of operations at Telefunken Elektroakustik, was among those to praise AES 129. “The doom and gloom vibe of recent years melted away, and the sun was shining at AES. We saw a lot of old friends and a lot of new faces. Great energy at this year’s show in San Francisco.”

Details of the next European Convention have yet to be announced, but the AES has revealed that the 2011 US Convention will take place in NYC.
