Featuring a black die-cast case, supercardioid polar pattern and striking red foam, the Special Edition Super 55 is suitable for stage, studio recording, podcasting and other sound applications where a stand-mounted microphone with a classic look is required. An integrated, swivel stand mount base and microphone bag are also included.

Shure Distribution UK confirmed to PSNE that 200 units have been allocated to Europe, with the UK taking 100 of those. SDUK has already received and sold its first batch of 50, and is expecting to take delivery of the remaining 50 at the end of September.

“This is an extremely cool-looking mic, but it’s not just about the appearance,” said Peter James, managing director of Shure Distribution UK. “This Special Edition is perfect for performers and music enthusiasts who are looking for a more unique aesthetic and cutting-edge design, but still appreciate the timeless style and cultural significance represented by these historic microphones.”

Building on the style of the original Shure Unidyne introduced in 1939, the Special Edition Super 55 is described as “the perfect combination of the ultimate in performance and design” by Shure Inc’s category director for wired microphones, Chad Wiggins.

Carrying a two-year limited edition warranty, the Shure Special Edition Super 55 is priced at £282 incl VAT.
