The Audio Engineering Society executive director, Bob Moses, has confirmed that that 134th AES Convention will take place in Rome, Italy, on 4-7 May 2013. This marks the first time an AES Convention will be held in the ‘Eternal City’. No exhibitor details have been released, suggesting a new approach to the European AES convention following a diminished exhibitor turnout at the 132nd convention in Budapest. Vice president of the AES Southern Europe region, Umberto Zanghieri, will chair the convention, which will be held at the new Roma Eventi – Fontana di Trevi Conference Centre. The recently-opened centre is situated near to the Quirinale Palace and, its namesake the Trevi Fountain, in a magnificent neoclassical palace, built by Guido Barluzzi in 1930. Designated by Benedict XV as home to the Gregorian University, the conference centre covers almost 30,000 square feet, and consists of 15 meeting rooms able to accommodate over 1,000 participants. Further details on the 134th AES Convention are expected in the near future. www.aes.org
