ITV Studios, the production and post-production arm of the UK commercial broadcaster, has installed its first Avid ICON console at The London Studios (TLS) complex, writes Kevin Hilton. The desk has gone into the upgraded Sound Dubbing 4 suite at the South Bank broadcast centre. The company reviewed its audio needs at TLS two years ago and decided on Pro Tools. An HD3 system was installed in Sound Dubbing 2 during January 2010 and now an HD3 Accel and an ICON console has gone in audio suite 4. Avid reseller Scrub supplied this equipment, along with a Media Composer video satellite. "After a thorough review of TLS post sound requirements in 2009, we chose Pro Tools as our preferred system for future upgrades such as that recently undertaken at Sound Dubbing 4," comments Phil Graham, project manager at TLS. "Having worked with Scrub in the past, it was an easy decision to choose them to supply and commission the new ICON console." TLS works on a range of entertainment and magazine programmes, both in the studios and in post. Recent production posted on the South Bank include Come Dine with Me, The British Soap Awards and Daybreak. www.londonstudios.co.uk
