Console manufacturer Studer is to integrate the RTW TM7 TouchMonitor loudness meter into models in its Vista product range, writes Kevin Hilton. The deal was announced this week at the CABSAT show in Dubai (28 February). Under the contract RTW will produce a special edition of TM7 touch screen system, which will be fitted into the meter bridge of Vista 9 and Vista 5 M2 digital desks. This version of the TouchMonitor will have custom meter presets to measure loudness for compliance to the EBU R128 and ITU BS 1770 standards, as well as conventional bargraph and needle meters that conform to other international guidelines. The TM7 can be retrofitted to Vista 9s and was selected to work with Studer's Vistonics user interface. Commenting on the arrangement, Andreas Tweitmann, chief executive of RTW, says, "We were thrilled when Studer approached RTW with its desire to introduce loudness metering to all of its Vista consoles. RTW has provided traditional meters to Studer for many years and we are happy to now supply its customers with the modern technology necessary to comply with new loudness regulations and improve their services overall." www.rtw.dewww.studer.ch
