The 2012 NAB Show opens this coming Monday (16-19 April), with a mix of audio launches in store, including a low-cost digital console from Studer, Harris' new IP radio distribution system and more additions to the already wide range of loudness products, writes Kevin Hilton. Studer is launching six products at the Las Vegas show, with the compact, low-cost Vista 1 console the prime focus. It is a single chassis control surface, with I/O connections and DSP on-board, and is aimed at OB trucks and ENG vans. Based on the Vista 5, the Vista 1 is priced at below $80,000 and features a brand new USB jingle player, triggered from the master panel. Other introductions include a Vista Compact remote bay, Lexicon FX engine and RTW MT7 metering option for Vista. RTW will be among the manufacturers with new loudness products on display, introducing the TM3, the latest addition to the TouchMonitor range. Emotion Systems will be at the Show with its eFF (Emotion File Finish) software program, while routing and play-out specialist Miranda Technologies is to launch a loudness monitoring and logging feature for the Kaleido multiviewer, along with Intelligent Loudness Correction, aimed at file-based operation. The Touchmix Pilot is the new product from TSL and consists of a desktop remote panel running with a rack-mounted unit. This allows users to select any analogue or digital audio source and adjust the levels and balance. Harris Corporation is embracing IP transmission for radio with the newest member of its Intraplex studio-to-transmitter link (STL) range. The IP Link 100 is a low-cost audio codec designed for studio-to-studio and remote contribution work as well as STL applications. www.nabshow.com
