Broadcast equipment hire company Pro Motion Hire has purchased broadcast hire facility Rent and international crewing company Eurocrew Worldwide.

The purchases were made from The Farm Group for a six-figure sum. The acquisitions will not result in any redundancies.

Despite challenging economic times, Pro Motion Hire has doubled its revenues and invested more than £1 million on new equipment in 2010. The new deal is set to strengthen the company’s offer by providing a dedicated base in the centre of Soho, along with a variety of production/post-production equipment and access to a large database of freelance production talent.

The two acquired companies will retain their current brand names. Rent’s booking staff will be based initially in serviced offices in Soho while suitable long-term Soho-based premises are found. Eurocrew Worldwide, an agency which provides English speaking crews locally around the world primarily for blue chip companies, is run by Rent staff and will continue to operate from Soho. Operational and technical staff will be temporarily based from Pro Motion Hire’s Waterloo HQ.

Pro Motion Hire, which will act as the parent brand to provide management support and distribution, will begin a recruitment drive in 2011 to enhance its systems and procedures.

Duncan Martin, director of Pro Motion Hire, commented: “Pro Motion Hire is dedicated to providing the best possible service and technical expertise for all kinds of productions across the UK. The acquisition of Rent and Eurocrew Worldwide makes perfect sense for us as we continue to grow. Both companies have great DNA in the industry, as well as fantastic staff and resources that will be valuable assets to our business.”

Nicky Sargent, joint managing director of The Farm Group, added: “We wanted the best for Rent and Eurocrew Worldwide, and Pro Motion Hire is the ideal fit. From our many dealings with Pro Motion, we know they have the focus and expertise to take the companies to the next level of success.”
