A number of new products are hitting the market or are being featured at the 141st Audio Engineering Society (AES) International Convention as it begins in LA.
CEDAR Audio has released the CEDAR Cambridge v11, which includes three new forensic audio enhancement, dialogue noise suppression and restoration modules, to complement nearly 30 other processes for the noise reduction and audio restoration system.
One feature has been derived from the CEDAR Trinity surveillance system supplied to law enforcement and security agencies. Called Trinity Enhance (pictured), it has been designed specifically for audio forensic use. It provides four related tools that, using just four sliders, allow users to suppress background noise, reveal voices and increase the intelligibility of speech. It also allows enhancement of the background if that contains wanted detail.
The new release will run successfully on all previous Series IV hosts as well as CEDAR Cambridge Series III hardware (with a new video card) running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit or Windows 7 Ultimate Pro.
Focusrite is releasing a major update to its RedNet Control software system that provides remote control for products in the company’s RedNet range of Dante-based audio-over-IP systems. RedNet Control 2.0 is on show at AES, as well as the new Red 8Pre.
Based around a web-browser-like tabbed graphical interface, RedNet Control 2.0 is designed to handle the largest RedNet system, with the ability to control up to 600 RedNet devices in total, representing up to 9600 Dante audio channels. Available units in the system can be dragged and dropped from a sidebar list into a grid on a tab. Each tab can display up to 12 devices, and up to 50 tabs can be defined.
Individual devices in the Device List sidebar are displayed in italic when they have been assigned to a tab; right-clicking a device enables it to be identified and renamed. The device list can be filtered to display only devices that meet certain criteria – such as sample rate, devices that are not currently in a tab, and other criteria. The device list is also searchable. It will be available as a free upgrade for all RedNet users from December 2016.
L-Acoustics’ newly launched Kiva II ultra-compact line source, will be exclusively demonstrated at AES, as well as the KS28 reference subwoofer and X Series of coaxial enclosures (pictured top). These demos will also showcase L-Acoustics’ latest developments on the open standard Audio Video Bridging/Time Sensitive Networking (AVB/TSN) technology.
Demonstrations will be conducted in Room 506 of the Convention Center’s West Hall at 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm on Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30, and at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on Saturday, October 1
Show control for the demos will be managed using an Apple Mac mini equipped with Q-Lab software, playing 20 audio channels at 24-bit/96 kHz directly to an Ethernet AVB/TSN Gigabit network via three streams of eight channels each.
LA Network Manager 2.5, which implements an AVDECC 1722.1 AVB/TSN controller, will connect the streams to five newly updated LA4X and LA12X amplified controllers, dedicating one audio channel to each amplified controller’s output. In addition, a MOTU 1248 AVB device will stream the presenter’s microphone over AVB/TSN to an LA4X amplified controller, all equipment being connected together by an affordable MOTU AVB/TSN bridge. The open standard AVB technology streamlines network infrastructure by combining audio signal transmission with system control and monitoring.
“We committed our R&D resources to AVB/TSN when we joined the AVNu Alliance last year,” explains Stéphane Ecalle, marketing director at L-Acoustics. “Preceding their upcoming certification, we’re delighted to demonstrate our first AVB/TSN-equipped products to AES visitors. We are sure that this development will translate into time and cost savings and simplify network implementation for our clients.”
QSC is also introducing the TouchMix-30 Pro (pictured), 32-channel digital mixer for production professionals, musicians and bands as well as live performance venues.
