What is it?A cardioid condenser microphone designed for broadcast applications as well as general studio use. DetailsThe TLM 102 incorporates a newly-developed, large-diaphragm capsule capable of handling maximum sound pressure levels of 144dB and offering a “very fast” transient response. The transformerless design is said to be particularly suited to vocal and speech applications – a slight boost above the 6kHz point in its frequency response providing additional presence. Up to 6kHz, the frequency response is said to be extremely linear, ensuring minimal colouration and a clearly-defined bass range. Sensitivity is quoted at 11mV/Pa (1kHz into 1k ohms) and dynamic range at 132dB (A weighted). The capsule has an elastic suspension for the reduction of structure-borne noise, while a pop screen integrated within the grille serves to suppress plosives in vocal and speech applications. The TLM 102 requires 48V phantom power and draws 3.4mA current. It is 52mm in diameter and 116mm long and is available in both black and nickel. A stand mount is included with the microphone and a broad range of other accessories are available including book attachments, power supplies and a pop shield.
