Major radio integration project at NDR

The German broadcaster has placed an order with ANNOVA Systems to integrate its OpenMedia news management system with VCS Media Broadcasting Solutions’ dira! production and playout system.

NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk) has placed an order with ANNOVA Systems to integrate its OpenMedia news management system with VCS Media Broadcasting Solutions’ dira! production and playout system.

The project started last month with several phases of tests to define the workflows. The integration will then be implemented from the beginning of 2011, commencing with the whole news department of NDR Info in Hamburg. In subsequent phases, the project will be rolled out to all other NDR radio stations in Hamburg as well as those in Kiel, Schwerin and Hannover.

The NDR project - which will constitute the third example of integration between OpenMedia and dira! systems - will pave the way to a more efficient workflow for editing and radio production.

The implementation will be based on proven standard technologies: ActiveX for integration of audio editors in the Open Media Client, and the MOS protocol for the exchange of media information and playlists.

Quantel integrates loudness metering in editors

Quantel is the latest video system manufacturer to integrate loudness technology into its products, supporting Nugen Audio metering on its broadcast editors. This upgrade will extend to include the company's post-production workstations in the next few months.
