The 2012 edition of the Broadcast Video Expo (BVE) kicked off on Tuesday with a new distribution announcement from Sennheiser UK. The company announced that it has secured the exclusive distribution rights for Nagra professional recording products, effective from 1 January 2012. “Nagra and Sennheiser have always had good contact historically and our products have a real synergy,” said John Owens, Nagra’s international sales manager. “When it became obvious that the time was right for us to find a local agent in the UK, we immediately thought of Sennheiser. Both companies’ products have become industry standards and are seen as the Rolls Royces of the audio industry. This is a great marriage.” Nagra has been producing professional recording products for over 55 years and manufacturers a range of products for the radio, television, music, cinema and security industries. Elsewhere on the floor, HHB hosted the world premiere of the RØDE Stereo VideoMic Pro. The Stereo VideoMic Pro builds on the features of VideoMic Pro by using a matched pair of high sensitivity, half-inch cardioid condenser capsules in a coincident XY pair. The mic’s +20dB level boost was specifically designed to provide a higher quality audio signal with DSLR cameras. When activated, the camera preamp level can be reduced, resulting in a lower noise floor and much clearer recording. RØDE microphones are distributed in the UK and Ireland by HHB’s distribution company, Source Distribution. Alex Theakston, marketing coordinator for Source (and pictured here with mic mounted on a Canon DSLR), commented: “RØDE has already experienced tremendous success in the on-camera microphone market with the VideoMic range, and so we're incredibly excited to debut a new product which will hugely improve the fidelity, noise-floor and stereo imaging of any camera it is connected to. With the Stereo VideoMic Pro, RØDE has done it again." www.hhb.co.ukwww.sennheiser.co.uk
