The organiser of the Broadcast Video Expo (BVE) show says the 2015 edition of the show – to be held at ExCeL in east London from February 24-26 – will attract more visitors “from outside the M25”. A concerted push to swell attendance figures follows the decision to cancel the BVE North 2014 event, which should have been held this week in Manchester.
“BVE North was launched in 2011 in response to the move by the BBC and several other broadcast industry organisations to Salford,” says BVE marketing consultant Diana Little on behalf of show producer i2i Events. “We wanted to provide a forum for all those who had relocated, and it was very well received by visitors and exhibitors alike.
“Three years on, we know that more and more visitors from outside the M25 are attending the London event, so we have decided to put all our effort into the main show next February and make it the best one yet. We have lots of exciting new initiatives for the 2015 show and we will be revealing them over the coming months.”
In the run up to BVE 2014, explains Little, many of the exhibitors from the first two shows – including several audio companies – increased or even doubled their spend at the event. “But they saw the London show as a means to get greater ROI [return on investment],” she continues. “Based on this and other industry feedback we decided that rather than running a regional show in the north-west, we would concentrate our efforts on making the London show even better and attracting more visitors from outside the M25.”
Even though BVE North 2013 was smaller than the previous two Manchester Central hall outings, it was still the biggest industry networking event outside of London, Little claims.
“An exhibition was possibly not the most effective medium for engaging this audience but, given the reception our free seminars and networking opportunities [generated], we are looking at opportunities to engage with those who work in the north of England and, indeed, other UK regions.”
