Evertz 7721DD4-HD

Publish date:

What is it?A quad serial data de-embedder capable of extracting 4 x RS-232 or RS-422 serial data streams and GPI contact closure information from 270Mb/s SD-SDI or 1.5Gb/s HD-SDI video signals. DetailsThe 7721DD4-HD employs a data error detection and correction scheme to maintain data integrity at its output. At the embedded packet layer, data packets resemble and have the same group DIDs as embedded audio packets. The data is un-packetized and extracted from the AES sub-frame according to SMPTE 337M. Adding the +GPI option to the decoder (model 7721DD4-HD+GPI) allows the user to decode remote control contact closure information from VITC (SD) or SMPTE 12M-2 ATC (HD) user bits instead of decoding the GPI information from the AES embedded data stream. The 7721DD4-HD module occupies one card slot and can be housed in the 1RU 7701FR frame holding three single or dual slot modules, the 3RU 7800FR frame with a 15-slot capacity, the portable 3RU 350FR frame with a 7-slot capacity, or a standalone enclosure holding a single module. Other features include automatic detection of SD-SDI or HD-SDI video input, parity selection (none, even or odd), card edge LEDs to indicate video signal and data presence, cable equalisation and module fault and group selection for extracting data from one of four audio groups.

HD OBs - trucking on a road near you

They're everywhere - at cricket grounds, football stadia, conference venues, theatres, local arts centres or just generally slogging up and down motorways - and, as Kevin Hilton reports, there looks like no stopping the growing number of high definition outside broadcast trucks. This perception is confirmed by figures in the latest edition of the HD OB Van Directory, which details 42 new vehicles across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
