Sony has announced a new line of compact, lightweight microphones, suitable for field production and news gathering, the UWP-D series, which will be showcased at BVE in London.
The new series offers wide frequency coverage, with a bandwidth of up to 72 MHz. As a result, the UWP-D series covers 33 TV channels across Europe (272 MHz, between 470 and 790 MHz).
Users can select from up to 2880 operating frequencies within this broad range.
Three packages will be available, including the UWP-D11: belt-pack transmitter with portable receiver, the UWP-D12: handheld microphone with portable receiver and lastly, the UWP-D16: plug-on transmitter with a belt-pack transmitter and portable receiver.
The UWP-D line is equipped with Sony’s ‘Hybrid Digital Processing’ feature, which offers the sound quality of digital audio processing combined with the reliability of analogue FM modulation.
Sony’s UWP-D receivers feature a variable output level control and the line’s components are equipped with micro USB terminals for connection to USB power sources.
