BVE 2013: numbers and highlights

A move to ExCeL doesn't seem to have deterred visitors to this year's BVE, as the show is reporting an overall increase in visitors, and a record number of on-site bookings for next year's event.

BVE is reporting a 5% increase in visitors to this year’s exhibition at its new ExCeL home. Unofficial numbers show more than 15,000 visitors over three days (to be confirmed by ABC audit), with a 57% increase in international visitors. In addition, a record number of current exhibitors have already committed to 70% of the floorspace for BVE 2014, which takes place from 25-27 February next year. Highlights for the pro-audio community included Optocore’s opening day announcement that it has appointed Sound Network as its new distributor in the UK. The two companies began seriously discussing a partnership at last year’s IBC in Amsterdam. Also noteworthy was the arrival of father-and-son outfit Live Band Audio, which aims to deliver USB stick-format recordings to fans “within three minutes” of the final encore. The business is run by Adam and Garry Mardell. James Rowley-Ashwood, event director, BVE, said, “The show was a phenomenal success for both exhibitors and visitors. The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive and constructive, and footfall shows that the industry supports the move to ExCeL. It has given us a great foundation to build on for next year’s event.” www.bvexpo.com
