What is it?An update of the AKG K 240 Monitor headphone offering wider dynamic range and higher sensitivity. DetailsThe K 240 Studio headphone incorporates AKG’s new XXL transducers in acoustically tuned vented enclosures with circumaural pads. XXL transducers use employ AKG’s patented Varimotion diaphragm said to be thinner and more elastic toward the outside edges for more powerful bass response and thicker, less resonant at the centre for pure, accurate mids and clear, detailed highs. According to AKG, the large size of the transducers makes the overall sound more life-like and three-dimensional whilst the gimbal-type suspension helps the earcups conform to the user’s ears without pressing on them. Offering a frequency response of 15Hz – 25kHz and 91dB maximum SPL, the 55 ohm K 240 Studio headphone utilises a detachable input cable for easy replacement and gold-plated mini XLR connectors said to offer perfect contact and secure mechanical connection. A self-adjusting headband made from flexible steel provides an optimum fit without adjustment; the design is said to be flexible yet strong enough to allow bending for single-ear use and durable enough to withstand rough handling.
