What is it?
A professional headset developed from AKG’s K 271 headphones for both broadcast and studio use.
The closed-back design of the HSD 271 is said to optimise ambient noise attenuation and covers a frequency range of 16Hz – 28kHz at 94dB (max) SPL and <0.3 % THD. The ’phones incorporate an auto-mute function and switchable bass-cut filter and are fitted with a detachable cable with mini XLR connector. Should the cable become defective in day-to-day use, it can be replaced quickly and without tools. The flexible microphone arm carries the shock-mounted transducer and can be swivelled through 270º, allowing it to be positioned for left or right-hand use. The microphone itself is a hypercardioid dynamic model covering a 60Hz – 17kHz range at an impedance of 600 ohms. Maximum SPL is quoted as 124dB for 1% THD at 1mV/Pa (-60dBV) sensitivity. Overall weight of the headset is 305g. The HSD 271 is also available as a single earphone version.
