SWITZERLAND: PSN-e has been informed that sales of Midas's PRO6 and XL8 into install enjoyed "large double digit growth" during 2009, reports David Davies. In the latest in a long line of high-profile installations, X-Tra Club in Zurich has been equipped with a PRO6 Live Audio System by Swiss distributor Audiotech.
R&B favourite Joss Stone and prog flute stalwarts Jethro Tull are among the acts to have played the X-Tra, which specified a PRO6 in line with its tradition of maintaining a high-end A/V spec.
"I was only interested in buying a Midas since these consoles suit every engineer's needs and put a smile on their faces," said club owner Markus 'M_ke' Kappeler. "A big plus of installing the PRO6 in our club was its compact size compared to the previous desk, which has resulted in extra tickets for audiences and corporate events."
X-Tra chief technician Edi M_sch added: "I'm more than happy with the PRO6 and was able to learn all the important functions and configuration details to provide support for the FOH technicians after just a few conversations with Audio Tech. The positive feedback I get every show is stunning!"
The club has also taken delivery of a Klark Teknik DN9331 Rapide graphic controller to handle system EQ, plus monitor EQ for smaller shows where monitors are controlled from FOH rather than the Midas XL250 on stage. Technicians can stand in front of the stage wedges to plot the desired EQ curve on the Rapide, which is connected via CAT5 to the PRO6.
Meanwhile, a Midas spokesperson has told PSN-e that sales of PRO6 and XL8 increased "significantly" during 2009, experiencing "large double digit growth". The XL8, in particular, had "a great year for European installations", with venues taking delivery of a console including Turkey's Harbiye Conference Centre and Norway's Trondheim Theatre.
