‘Easy-to-use’ Yamaha console saves set-up time for Jamiroquai festival set

A Yamaha console was used to provide audio for Jamiroquai’s headline set at the North Sea Jazz Festival last month.

The Yamaha Rivage PM10 console was used for the band’s acid jazz set in Rotterdam to a 10,000-strong crowd. The festival, which took place on July 13-15, showcases the best in jazz, blues, soul, and funk music.

FOH engineer Rick Pope had to provide the mix with no soundcheck, due to previous tour dates being postponed. It was only Pope’s second Jamiroquai show using the Rivage PM10, but as a Yamaha console user for around 20 years, he said “it was not difficult to create something wonderful”.

Pope continued: “Festivals are always a challenge, because of the tight turnaround times, but this is a fantastic desk.

“It really is the easiest console I’ve ever used and, thanks to the quality of the onboard processing, I don’t need any outboard. I already had the show on a USB stick, so I was able to turn up, switch the desk on, load the show and then I was ready!”

Yamaha Music Europe supplied the pianos and drum kits on all stages at the festival at the city’s Ahoy arena.
