Westfalen Sound marks 30th anniversary

test 28 October 2008

GERMANY: POOL group division Westfalen Sound recently celebrated its first 30 years in business, writes David Davies. The company provides production services to numerous touring, government, commercial and theatre clients using Meyer Sound equipment exclusively.

A four-day celebration at Westfalen’s Emstetten base incorporated training events, seminars, product demonstrations, and a gallery installation looking back on the company’s illustrious history.

The culmination of the celebrations came with a large party attended by more than 400 guests, including John Meyer, who presented Westfalen CEO Carl Cordier with a unique hand-made bass guitar custom inlaid with Cordier’s name. Speeches and music were relayed via the use of Meyer Sound loudspeakers and a Matrix3 audio show control system.

“This is an important milestone for the company, and in some ways is the beginning of the next phase of our growth,” commented Cordier. “It was amazing that so many of our friends and clients were able to join us, and of course I have a new bass guitar to play with as well! It also meant a great deal to us that John Meyer chose to visit us personally.”

Initiated in 1994, The POOL Group is a network of middle-sized companies working in the area of technical communication and event support. Other companies in the group – which is represented throughout Europe and has business interests in North America and Asia – include The Light Concept and MS Video.
