Very high Profile – Digidesign confirms strong start for VENUE spin-off

test 30 January 2007

EUROPE: A flurry of sales in Europe forms part of what Digidesign terms a “phenomenal response” to the VENUE D-Show Profile console. Dispatch SA, Skan PA and Wigwam are among the audio hire and service companies to have purchased at least two Profiles since the desk’s launch at PLASA last autumn, writes David Davies.

Paris-based operation Dispatch heads the list, having taken delivery of eight Profiles. Skan and Wigwam have acquired two apiece. Digidesign would not confirm the total number sold at this stage, but a source close to the company cited over 80 Profiles sold since it started shipping in December.

“From the moment of launch at PLASA, there was an incredible level of interest in this new system,” says Mike Case, European live sound sales manager. “This product has been specifically tailored for a European market, especially in its design and footprint.”

Fully compatible with all existing VENUE hardware and D-Show software, the VENUE D-Show Profile is a compact mixing console said to be suited to a variety of small and mid-sized environments and applications, including theatres and houses of worship.

The news comes after a productive Winter NAMM session that saw Digidesign announce the launch of the Structure virtual instrument plug-in, and Reel Tape Suite, a set of analogue tape emulation plug-ins.

In other recent news, Digidesign in the US has confirmed two important new appointments to its senior team. Chant Peck – an experienced engineer, producer and consultant – has come onboard as product specialist, while Kyle Ritland becomes worldwide public relations manager. Ritland, previously director of public relations at Loud Technologies, will be responsible for heading up artist and public relations efforts across all Digidesign product lines and market sectors.

“I’m excited about the possibilities, and tremendously happy to be here,” said Ritland, who will be based at Digidesign’s global headquarters in Daly City, California.
