UK Post & Services’ audio working group inspires new film/TV web resource

test 15 May 2007

UK: MediaBase is a new searchable database website from UK Post & Services, the independent trade body that represents the film and broadcast service industry. The new service was “borne out of the audio working group as they wanted to create a search tool for producers to identify the audio talent on specific films or TV programmes, and also source the UK facilities where such work was done,” UK Post & Services’ Gaynor Davenport (pictured) tells David Davies.

In development for 18 months with the support of the UK Film Council and concentrating solely on production and post-production activity in the UK, the site is now inviting UK Post & Services members to submit their project information.

Intended to be useful for producers worldwide and also for production companies abroad looking for UK facilities or staff, MediaBase can be searched to find out what is currently in production or post, to see who did what on the project, and where they did it.

Users can also view a full production history by facility, including details of studios, visual effects and post-production, along with individual profiles and contact details.

Recounting the genesis of the site, UK Post & Services chief executive Gaynor Davenport tells PSN-e that as development continued from the original audio premise, “the other working groups wanted their sector to be covered, [and now] after a year of database programming the site has been launched to great acclaim. The facilities are finding it easy to upload their information, and we know that the production community will find it simple and informative.”
