Tieline Codec Solutions joins Audio-via-IP Experts Group

test 29 January 2008

GERMANY: The Audio-via-IP Experts Group has announced the addition of a new member in the form of remote broadcast digital audio codec manufacturer Tieline Codec Solutions. The working group was established in 2006 by MAYAH Communications and AETA Audio Systems to coordinate technical efforts with a view to achieving a “true interoperability” of audio codec products on the IP level using SIP/RTP protocols, as described in the draft EBU recommendations, reports David Davies.

Tieline’s membership – confirmed after extensive tests conducted in line with EBU N/ACIP guidelines – follows the addition of Orban/CRL in January 2007.

“This move reinforces our belief that codec manufacturers need to collaborate, to make it easier for broadcasters to evolve from existing circuit-switched infrastructure into new audio-over-IP technologies,” commented Tieline’s international marketing manager, Darren Levy.

“It is so good to find more partners supporting the EBU N/ACIP recommendations,” said Detlef Wiese, co-founder and general manager of MAYAH Communications. “Customers now can choose standard conform solutions from four manufacturers. We wish more would follow soon, but already with AETA, Orban, Tieline and us, MAYAH, the broadcasting professionals will find a broad offer on highly compatible products.”
