t&mSystems for Germany's Katielli Theater

The Katielli Theater in Datteln, Germany, has recently been upgraded with a new t&mSystems audio system, designed and installed by Muenster-based Prosound Eventservice.   The theatre’s FOH system now comprises two t&mSystems Unity 12 loudspeakers left and right, two t&mSystems XS115T subwoofers, and one t&mSystems Unity 10 for centre fill. Four active t&mSystems FG101A were supplied as floor monitors.   Since it opened in 2010, the theatre has been a favourite among artists, hosting many well-known names from the German cabaret and musical theatre community. The venue is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream for actor, singer and dancer, Bernd Julius Arends who has performed in large musical productions across Europe for over 20 years, including Beauty and the Beast, Jesus Christ Superstar, My Fair Lady and more.   His experience touring Europe has given Arends an appreciation for the audio system quality he wanted to achieve, but, as he explained, budgets were also an important consideration:  “To open a private theatre these days is a substantial undertaking, particularly with funding. That has made it very important for us always consider the best possible price-to-performance ratio in every area, including the audio system”.   Thorsten Brinkmann of Prosound Eventservice and t&mSystems evaluated the best solution for Arends’ given price range. “Intelligibility was a major requirement, of course, but also full range music reproduction,” explained Brinkmann. “The Unity series of t&mSystems really stood out from the crowd during the tests. I really couldn’t believe the price, given the excellent standard of construction and high-quality components used, like European-manufactured drive units. The sound quality was outstanding.”
