Stagetracker system for 1,800-capacity venue18 November 2008
NORWAY: The prestigious venue has implemented TTA’s Stagetracker FX actor tracking and audio position technology, reports PSN-e. Norway’s newly constructed National Opera House is located in the Bj_rvika district of Oslo and incorporates two performance spaces – one with a capacity of 1400, the other housing 400.
The venue is also the home to the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet company.
In a move that sees it become the first international opera house to install Stagetracker FX, the National Opera House has specified a Stagetracker 16FXR system with the capacity to handle 16 tagged performers simultaneously on the large stage, which has two RadioEye infra-red detectors fitted in the truss. Collectively, the hardware and software enable real-time tracking of performers on stage.
The Stagetracker FX system was purchased from Scandinavian distributor Benum along with TTA’s FX Audio Editor, which provides control and arrangement functions for sound effect playback.
“We all feel that Stagetracker offers the next step in theatre,” commented Benum’s Ronald Hernes, pictured here to the right of Benum colleague Egil Eide and TTA’s Stuart Kerrison. “It is the logical development now that the best houses have surround sound installations. The sound engineers at the Opera House are most excited about the TTA system. They see it as a piece of technology that will really help them to do their job better, allowing them to concentrate on their sound mix rather than audio positioning.”
