SRD Group brightens Bluetones tour with Allen & Heath dLive8 June 2016
SRD Group provided the FOH console for ’90s indie rockers, The Bluetones, after taking delivery of the new Allen & Heath dLive series surfaces and MixRacks.
The Bluetones were concluding their 20th anniversary tour of the UK at London’s Roundhouse and FOH engineer Joe Turner said first impressions of the console were great.
“It looks impressive and there is an instant familiarity from the iLive series. Having not used one previously before I was apprehensive about using it for a headline show, but straight away I was flying round the controls. The layout is very well arranged,” he said.
“Sonically the mic-pres are very clean, responding very well to being driven hard, and the EQ is very accurate. The additional options for analogue-modelled compressors are a nice touch. They all genuinely sound different to each other and with the vast array of built-in effects, the need for plug-ins is negated. The multiband compressors are great too, and really helped to tidy up the bass guitar in the space.”
Turner said the a number of things set the dLive apart from the iLive. “The extra rotaries are a welcome change. Being able to assign these as aux sends for mixing FX on the fly whilst still maintaining the rotaries on the channel strip was great. Operating at 96K is also an excellent improvement…” he said.
