GERMANY: The 2007 ProLight+Sound Expo came to an end recently with news of record-breaking achievements in terms of both exhibitor and visitor numbers. Soundcraft was among the prominent pro-audio suppliers with reasons to celebrate in Frankfurt, having confirmed one of the first sales of its new Vi4 digital consoles during the event, reports PSN-e.

According to the organisers, ProLight+Sound and the parallel Musikmesse event attracted a combined total of 108,000 visitors, with 2,400 exhibitors appearing at the show. Considered separately, ProLight+ Sound 07 registered a 2.4% increase in exhibitors to a total of 802, with the event’s 27,892 visitors representing a rise of 6.4% on last year.

Percentage attendance was highest from visitors based in the Benelux countries, followed by those in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Spain and Great Britain. There was also a notable growth in visitors from Eastern European countries such as Latvia, Croatia and Lithuania.

“These records mean that ProLight+Sound has consolidated its status as the biggest international trade fair for event and communication technology, AV production and entertainment,” commented Detlef Braun, member of the board of management of Messe Frankfurt GmbH. “ProLight+Sound is the major meeting place for the industry and the main hub for professionals from all over the world.”

Soundcraft was one of the suppliers to have enjoyed a particularly productive week, which saw it publicise one of the first sales of its new Vi4 digital console from Dortmund-based company Licht & Ton. Wilhelm ‘Helmer’ Lennertz, proprietor of Licht & Ton, was said to be particularly impressed with the console’s Vistonics II touch-screen interface, which allows sound engineers to access 24 full channels at a time, and the incorporation of other interfaces.

“In my eyes the Vi4 was simply the most professional and user-friendly console – with the best quality sound – currently in the marketplace,” said Lennertz (pictured centre, with Audio Pro’s J_rg ter Veer (left) and Soundcraft sales director Adrian Curtis).
