Sound Technology makes storming deal with Tempest

Letchworth-based Sound Technology has been appointed distributor of Tempest wireless intercom products for the UK and ROI.

Tempest systems are designed for broadcast, live sound production, theatre, sports and installed audio applications. They offer a “wired-intercom feature set with the convenience, flexibility and freedom of wireless operation, is fully compatible with all major 2-Wire and Matrix intercom systems and provides a transparent, reliable RF interface to the wired world”.

The Tempest 2400-EU system, for instance, operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band; users can operate up to 11 BaseStations and 55 full-duplex BeltStations in the same RF space at the same time with no license requirements and no frequency coordination.

The Tempest brand was for many years associated with and distributed by intercom giant Clear-Com, although the products were always created, developed and manufactured by CoachComm, a US company with nearly 25 years’ experience in communications for sport broadcasting. CoachComm/Tempest split from Clear-Com in August 2015 in order to grow the business via fresh channels and new partnerships.

Gary Rosen, global manager for Tempest, commented on the announcement: “Expanding our distribution network with Sound Technology to better serve our customers is an exciting step forward for us.”

David Marshall, managing director, Sound Technology Ltd, said: “The brand fits very well within our existing pro audio offering, further strengthening our reach into the broadcast, theatre and live sound markets.

“Not only is the Tempest product of the highest quality but the level of training and support that they offer makes it clear that they are a major force in the wireless intercom market.”
