Solent acoustics degree gains professional accreditation

The Institute of Acoustics (IoA), the UK’s professional body for those working in acoustics, noise and vibration has officially accredited Southampton Solent’s new MSc Applied Acoustics.

The IoA has recognised the practical industry-focused teaching, state-of-the-art facilities and strong business links the University delivers.

The degree is designed to meet the requirements for professional IoA registration, and offers partial credit for students who already hold the IoA Diploma – enabling them to gain the MSc in one year through part-time study.

Dr Chris Barlow, reader in acoustics at Southampton Solent University, says: “Accreditation by the Institute adds significant value to the MSc, as it provides professional recognition of the quality of the course offered, as well as enabling graduates to apply for professional registration when the degree is complete.”
