‘Significant’ Vietnam sale for SSL

test 20 January 2009

VIETNAM: SSL has announced the purchase of a C200 HD broadcast audio console by Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), reports PSN-e. Based in Hanoi, VOV is the state radio broadcaster and provides six channels of content encompassing news, cultural programming and music.

The broadcaster recently constructed a new radio theatre in Hanoi designed to suit a wide range of live-to-air productions and multi-track recording duties, while remaining flexible enough to provide – when required – post-production functionality and FOH feeds.

The console selected for the theatre is a 48-frame C200 HD with 96 in-line channels. The desk will be supplied with SSL’s C-SB remote stage box, which provides 48 24-bit microphone inputs, plus analogue outputs for local monitoring.

“VOV first made contact via our website, which led in turn to a series of meetings and ultimately a highly significant sale,” commented SSL’s area sales manager for south-east Asia and China, Anthony Gofton.

In other recent broadcast news, a C200 HD has also been installed at Al-Arabiya, the 24-hour news channel of MBC Network, Dubai. The broadcaster purchased the SSL console as part of a major upgrade of its news servers that will substantially increase its overall number of digital input channels.

“We selected the C200 HD for its high performance and unique control surface features,” said Basheer Saad, news channel audio supervisor, MBC Group. “It’s an all-digital console with all the advantages that offers, but its analogue-style layout provides near-instant access to multiple controls, which is very important in our work environment as it will be in use 24 hours a day for live news, current affairs, business and financial markets, sports, talk shows and documentaries.”
