Shure Champions UK Beatboxers

test 1 July 2008

UK: Shure Distribution UK has supported the final of the Vauxhall UK Beatbox Championships 2008, writes PSN-e. Having joined forces with website humanbeatbox.com, the microphone manufacturer offered products as prizes for the competition – aimed at uncovering new British hip hop talent – and supplied microphones for the contestants to use.

Taking place after months of heats around the country, the final eight beatboxers in the competition battled it out at the grand final at the London Islington Carling Academy on June 13. Last years champion Beardyman, as well as stars Shlomo and Killa Kela, presided over this years event and after a final round described as ‘amazing’, they judged the winner to be MC Zani.

Speaking after the event, Shure Distribution UK marketing manager Paul Crognale enthused over the brand’s role in the championships. “We are happy to be supporting beatboxers at a grass roots level. Shure mics that are traditionally used by vocalists have now been embraced by the best beatboxing talent in the country and we hope to continue supporting new talents as they rise through the ranks.”

The KSM9 – currently being used by Killa Kela – formed part of the prize that MC Zani won, alongside a set of Shure SCL5 professional in-ear monitors and the opportunity to perform on the Shure stand at this year’s What HiFi? Sound and Vision show at London’s Excel exhibition centre.
