Sennheiser UK and Powersoft end distribution partnership

test 7 April 2009

UK: The decision was announced on 1 April and, says Powersoft, reflects the current economic situation. Sennheiser UK became the exclusive UK distributor for the Italian amplifier brand in August 2007, since when it has contributed to the roll-out of a raft of new Powersoft products.

The agreement to end the distribution relationship was made by mutual consent and was announced on the eve of Prolight + Sound 2009.

Carlo Lastrucci, Powersoft’s president, commented: "We acknowledge the efforts put in by Sennheiser UK to promote our brand and technology in the United Kingdom; however, given the current difficult economic situation, we have agreed that a change of approach to the market would be beneficial to both parties."

Sennheiser UK’s general manager, Phil Massey (pictured), added: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Powersoft for their assistance over the period of our association. However, we will not be strangers to Powersoft technology in the future, as it is integrated into other products that we distribute, namely Klein + Hummel and K-array power amplification. So, Powersoft will still have a presence here at Sennheiser UK as we continue to develop and refine our product portfolio. We wish Carlo and all at Powersoft the very best for the future."

Speaking to PSN-e about the role of stand-alone amplifiers in Sennheiser UK’s portfolio going forward, Massey added: "As loudspeaker manufacturers increasingly look to producing self-powered loudspeaker cabinets, or involve themselves in direct tie-ups with particular power amplifier manufacturers, the market for stand-alone power amplifiers has generally become more difficult. However, we are always looking at ways of refining our product portfolio and making it as attractive as possible to our customers, so we would not rule out suitable opportunities should they present themselves. Nevertheless, it should be noted that we continue to be in a strong position to offer amplification solutions to our customers through brands that Sennheiser UK represents such as APart, DAS, K-array and Klein + Hummel."
