Seminar on music via mobile phone scheduled for next week23 October 2007
UK: ‘Music 2 Mobile’ is the name of the latest seminar organised by Music Tank, due to take place in Central London next Tuesday (October 30th). The event will address the role of the mobile phone as “the music industry’s hottest new sales platform and possibly the main vehicle for future music consumption”, reports PSN-e.
Set to draw on contributions from – among others – Sarah Roberts (MEF Europe), Seth Jackson (Indie Mobile), Richard Wheeler (Orange UK) and Steve Mayall (MusicAlly), the seminar will consist of two parts – the first assessing the mobile as a marketing tool, the second examining the fine art of mobile distribution.
Expect the seminar to reflect the UK’s pole position in the European mobile music stakes – MusicAlly recently estimated that UK users download as many as 1.3m tracks per month using mobile phones – and to repudiate the suggestion that only larger labels are in a position to capitalise on the potential of this new form of delivery.
Tickets for the event are priced at _50 (standard), _45 (trade body members) and _35 (members); places must be booked and paid for in advance via the link below. The seminar will take place on October 30th from 17:00 to 21:00 at The Basement, MCPS-PRS Alliance, 29-33 Berners Street, London W1T 3AB.
