SAE Institute celebrates new London campus

test 24 March 2009

UK: The creative media college’s new Shoreditch campus was launched with a well-attended party, writes David Davies. The introductory event for the bespoke facility was attended by more than 150 people, including graduates, engineers, producers, manufacturers and journalists.

Guests were treated to an extensive tour of the seven-storey complex, which incorporates 11 audio studios, a film mixing studio with ‘green screen’ capability, four video editing studios and a 76-seat theatre.

Electronic Music Production, Audio Engineering Diploma, BA (Hons) Recording Arts Degree, Digital Film Making Diploma, BA (Hons) Film Making Degree and Music Business Diploma are among the courses being taught at the new facility.

Tom Misner, owner of SAE Institute, tells PSN-e: "For over 30 years SAE Institute has been committed to training students to the highest levels in a range of creative media. We’re also affiliated to Middlesex University, who validate our degree courses. But we’re never ones to rest on our laurels, which is why the year ahead will see us making our courses available to even more people. This will be by designing shorter courses geared to those who need the skills and practical experience to make great recordings, but aren’t necessarily aiming for or ready for a lifelong career in audio. There’s never been a more exciting time to train at the world’s largest creative media college."

SAE London manager Matthias Postel (pictured here with colleague Sandro de Castro) said that "with this latest move – to the UK capital’s creative heartland – we’re now in a position to raise the bar considerably in terms of the facilities and equipment that our students learn their trade on. The official launch party to open the new campus has been a great success – thanks to all who attended and helped make it such a special night."
