SADiE brand rides again thanks to acquisition by Prism Sound

test 8 April 2008

UK: On the same day that D&M Holdings announced its latest purchase came the news that Prism Sound had acquired the business and intellectual property rights of SADiE. The deal – negotiated by Prism Sound directors Graham Boswell and Ian Dennis – promises to usher in a new phase for the SADIE brand following former owner Studio Audio & Video Ltd’s entrance into administration two months ago, writes David Davies.

The new arrangement will see the SADiE name being retained and deliveries resuming “almost immediately”, although Prism Sound notes that availability of certain products may be limited at first. Existing customers will have full access to product support as before using the same telephone numbers and email addresses as previously, while new orders are now being accepted by Prism Sound’s sales offices in Cambridge (UK) and New Jersey (US).

For Prism Sound, the two companies’ R&D and engineering heritages and strong brand recognition in both broadcast and mainstream pro-audio make for an ideal fit. “Prism Sound is financially secure and in an ideal position to take on the SADiE brand,” commented Boswell (pictured here with Ian Dennis). “By combining two complementary product ranges with overlapping customer bases, we are confident that we can create a formidable and highly competitive business for the future.”

Joint marketing initiatives and possible bundles of existing SADiE and Prism Sound products are on the agenda, as is new product development.

“We will be consulting with SADiE users to develop new product strategies and to identify ways in which the existing range can be enhanced and made more accessible to a wider market,” observed Dennis. “We will be keen to combine the Prism Sound ‘sound’ with the supreme reliability and ease of use of the SADiE editing and production software.”

While Prism Sound is now seeking to find a new location that will enable it to combine both businesses in one premises, the company will operate from both Prism Sound and SADIE’s existing Cambridge facilities for the foreseeable future. However, all enquiries relating to SADiE products should be directed to Prism Sound’s head office (tel: +44 1223 424 988; email:
