Renkus-Heinz president Roscoe Anthony steps down7 December 2015
Does lightning strike the same place twice? Maybe in Orange County it does, where steerable-sound specialist Renkus-Heinz has parted ways with its second company president in a little over two years.
Roscoe Anthony (pictured), an award-winning executive who joined RH from educational AV supplier Califone, is reported to have resigned “with immediate effect” at the weekend.
“Roscoe has made positive contributions during his association with Renkus-Heinz, and we all wish him well for his future endeavours,” said Harro Heinz, founder and CEO, who is returning to serve as CEO and president.
No replacement for Anthony is currently under consideration.
Anthony’s fate is not dissimilar to that of previous incumbent Scott Leslie, ex-JBL, who joined as president in January 2013 but was gone by the following September.
When he joined in September 2014, Heinz said of Roscoe: “(He) brings with him an extraordinarily wide-ranging skillset, with deep expertise in business, marketing, and manufacturing, along with a powerful grasp of today’s complex technologies. We are truly pleased to welcome him, and are looking forward to working together.”
In March this year Anthony told Frank Wells, writing for Pro Sound News/PSNEurope, that he “sense[d] a major change in our industry overall, as industry veterans, entrepreneurial founders and others begin to cede their companies and positions to the next generation. I anticipate that the very foundations we’re all so comfortable with will change dramatically in the next few years, and I’m thrilled to be taking part in that change.”
In a statement which begs further scrutiny following the president’s departure, Heinz said: “Renkus-Heinz has superior assets across many key fronts and yet the brand has not fully leveraged these strengths to its own competitive advantage.
“During the last 12 months we have identified several important product initiatives that precisely align with our business strategy and I am fully committed to accelerating the investments required in order to successfully bring them to market.”
The company says it will ultimately “achieve greater business performance from entry into a broader array of product segments than ever before”. Senior vice president Ralph Heinz adds that product development will focus on “our return to the extraordinary”.
