The music scene heats up in Belgium with a first look at new facilities called DAFT Studios. Located close to both Germany and the Netherlands, it has a 14 room lodge and a 8m main-high main hall that makes it one of the biggest recording wood rooms in Europe, plus a control room featuring the country’s first Rupert Neve 5088 console.

Also in the issue is a chat with renowned mastering engineer Tony Cousins, who was frequently called on by the late singer George Michael for tracks such as the 1984 single Careless Whisper to 2004’s Patience LP. He describes the songwriter’s extraordinary attention to detail.
