PSN-e: 100 not out18 November 2008
UK: Pro Sound News Europe’s weekly email newsletter has racked up that all-important first century, writes David Davies. From relatively humble origins in autumn 2006, it has matured to become a big story-breaking adjunct to the PSNE print issue that, at last count (in September 2008), was able to command 90,000 unique users per month.
In particular, the weekly format has allowed us to keep a constant check on the key stories and issues affecting the pro-audio world. The ongoing debate surrounding PMSE spectrum access, the rising tide of counterfeited goods, high-profile moves against software piracy, and the digital mixing console phenomenon are just some of the developments to have been the subject of lead stories on PSN-e during the last two years.
As the newsletter’s story-breaking credibility has grown, so has its attraction to advertisers. Audio-Technica, Allen & Heath, Euphonix, Innovason, Martin Audio, QSC and SSL are among the many high-profile companies to have recognised PSN-e’s capacity to communicate their brand messages to the wider pro-audio world.
With a 65% increase in the number of subscribers since October 2007, PSN-e has become an important satellite to the monthly print issue of Pro Sound News Europe.
“We made the century!” exclaims PSNE/PSN-e editor Dave Robinson. “While it’s undoubtedly a reason to uncork the champagne – hey, you’ve got to seize every opportunity in these economically uncertain days, right? – we’ve only just started to realise the potential of the weekly email newsletter format. So, looking forward, readers can expect even more exclusives and analysis – plus one or two surprises – as PSN-e goes for its second century.”
