Propellerhead unveils major new recording software16 June 2009
SWEDEN: Record is said to be a ‘different beast’ when it comes to music recording technology, writes David Davies. The major new product launch incorporates a software mixing console, a limitless rack of audio processing gear that builds itself or can be ‘infinitely’ customised, and a built-in virtual POD from Line 6 for guitar players.
Propellerhead says that the software mixer’s sound is modelled on the SSL 9000K hardware with flexible routing, full dynamics, EQ, advanced effects handling and complete automation.
Record recently began beta-testing and is due to be made available for purchase from Propellerhead dealers on September 9 at a suggested retail price of _299 USD/_299 EUR. Propellerhead will also offer special bundles and pricing to its users through its retailers.
Propellerhead CEO Ernst Nathorst-B?_s tells PSN-e that Record is “the first recording program to take the musician’s perspective. The DAWs, as the others call them, are all based on pretty old technology by now and you can see how they are taped and glued together, if you see what I mean. This program is a different beast – all about making a song, allowing the user to focus on nothing but the music, sounding fabulous and having fun while doing it. Nothing more, nothing less.”
