ProLight+Sound records impressive 13% visitor increase

test 1 April 2008

GERMANY: The optimistic mood and sense of energy at ProLight+Sound 2008 alluded to in last week’s PSN-e (read here) have been further substantiated by the confirmation of final visitor and exhibitor totals for the four-day show. Headline figures include a 13% increase in the total visitor number (68,025, compared to 61,444 last year), with the majority of newcomers arriving from outside Germany, writes David Davies.

There was also a significant rise in the number of exhibitors (837, compared to 795 in last year) at a show which accommodated a 10.7% increase in total exhibition space. The exhibitor list was led by Germany with 341, followed by China (74), Great Britain (59) and Italy (54). The majority of new participants came from Germany (+7.9%), while the proportion of foreign exhibitors rose by 3.5% – the bulk of them from other European countries.

Speaking to PSN-e, ProLight+Sound director J_rgen Kupczik (pictured) observed that the focal points of this year’s event were “products and solutions in the field of media technology and networked systems for both the mobile event and permanent installation segments”. Panasonic, Stagetec and Digigram were among the exhibitors said by Kupczik to have presented “new and interesting product ideas”.

Noting that feedback from exhibitors and visitors had been “extremely good”, Kupczik went on to suggest that the show now has a particular appeal for companies operating in more than one market area. “ProLight+Sound is becoming increasingly popular, especially among companies that cater for several different segments of the market. More and more, exhibitors are moving away from simply producing, selling or hiring products to being full-service suppliers of solutions and services.”
