ProLight+Sound ’07 to house more than 800 exhibitors from 42 countries

test 27 March 2007

GERMANY: The 2007 ProLight+Sound expo- which begins in Frankfurt tomorrow (March 28th) – is set to demonstrate an encouraging commitment to new product development from manufacturers both large and small. Mackie, Outline, HK Audio, Focusrite and Allen & Heath are among numerous pro-audio suppliers to be unveiling major new items at an event which is expected to record an attendance figure equal to last year’s record total of 102,000 visitors.

In particular, there will be an abundance of new loudspeaker offers. Manufacturers to be launching new items in this category include HK Audio, which will introduce additions to its ConTour Series; Beyma, presenting a complete new family of loudspeakers under the umbrella of P1000ND; Nexo, highlighting new items in its GEO S tangent-array series; and RCF, which will showcase the latest addition to the TT+ range of speakers, the TT08-A. Tannoy is to debut active versions of models in its V-Series loudspeaker range under the banner POWERV, while Funktion One is to introduce two-small sized loudspeakers – the F55 and F81.

Other manufacturers to be highlighting new or recent equipment include Allen & Heath (new additions to the iLive digital mixing range and two further models for the Xone series of DJ products); Audio-Technica (the AT2010 handheld cardioid condenser microphone); and Focusrite (Liquid Mix V.20, a new software release for Focusrite’s DSP-powered dynamic convolution mix system, Liquid Mix).

Mackie promises a considerable haul of new products, including the Mackie Control Pro control surface series, which comprises Mackie Control Universal Pro, Mackie Control Extender Pro and Mackie Control C4 Pro. The company is also introducing the VLZ3 line of compact mixers and the latest version of its Tracktion digital audio and MIDI production software, Tracktion 3.

Alcons Audio, meanwhile, is to exhibit its ‘Phitom’ design study, which considers how to implement pro-ribbon technology into a large-scale sound reinforcement system.

As ProLight+Sound director J_rgen Kupczik notes, the 2007 exhibition will reveal some distinct changes in layout – particularly in the lighting category – as part of an overall expansion of capacity. “There will also be many completely new features, [including] a live stage on an outdoor area where all aspects of a big festival can be demonstrated under realistic conditions. Also new this year is the ProLight+Sound Video Studio where experts from the AV industry, as well as musicians and bands, can discover everything worth knowing about video products,” says Kupczik, adding that he expects last year’s figure of approximately 25,000 trade visitors to be surpassed.
