Powersoft details new UK distribution deal and huge US sale

test 21 April 2009

UK/ITALY: Following the end of its arrangement with Sennheiser UK, Powersoft has appointed CUK Audio as its UK mainland distributor, writes David Davies. As reported on the last issue of PSN-e, Powersoft and previous UK distributor Sennheiser UK announced that they were ceasing their distribution relationship by mutual consent on April 1.

Based in Glasgow, CUK Audio was formed by managing director Stuart Thomson in 2005. Since that time, it has assembled an extensive distribution portfolio that includes Audica Professional, Clair Brothers, Community Professional Loudspeakers, Digigram and DIS Danish Interpretation Systems.

Luca Giorgi, Powersoft’s Audio Division sales manager, tells PSN-e: "CUK Audio has a much more focused portfolio in which Powersoft occupies a key role. This enables our products to be sold as stand-alone power amplifiers and as part of a complete package. It is also an advantage to be in a portfolio of products that has no brand conflicts, where Powersoft can achieve its true potential in the UK market."

CUK Audio takes on distribution responsibilities with immediate effect for a product range that was swelled with several new items at Prolight + Sound last month. The latest products include the Duecanali 3904 (2 x 1,950W @ 4 Ohm), Duecanali 5204 (2 x 2,600W @ 4 Ohm) models, and the D-Cell amplifier modules for ‘aftermarket’ applications.

The arrival of Powersoft undoubtedly represents a major development for CUK Audio. Asked to contemplate the possibility of further additions to its distribution portfolio, Thomson (pictured) tells PSN-e: "For the future of CUK and its brands, a fundamental criterion in our selection is that the brands must lead in solutions and technology, and have the R&D and vision to continue that. This future capability is far more important than just being a ‘brand name today’ and strategically allows for longer-term relationships and our ability for market development – a benefit for our suppliers and customers alike. All of our brands have this, and within the comprehensive range of products we now distribute in the UK, I see Powersoft making great gains as one of our key brands."

In other news, Powersoft recently announced it has sold 450 DIGAM K-10 amplifiers, to the total of a huge five million watts of power, to ATK Audiotek, a high-end audio US audio company serving such events as the Super Bowl, Dancing with the Stars, and the Democratic and Republican National Conventions.
