PL+S 2017: Products on show from R to X

Prolight + Sound kicks off from April 4-7 in Frankfurt. A range of new products will be debuting at the show.

Riedel Communication’s all-new wireless communications solution will make its global debut. Working seamlessly with Riedel’s Artist digital matrix intercom platform, the new system delivers unprecedented performance and category-defining density, clarity, range, and elegance to wireless communications, the company says.

RiedelThe RSP-2318 SmartPanel (pictured) offers features and capabilities that enrich the user experience and change the way broadcasters and AV professionals communicate. The world’s first control panel designed to serve as a powerful multifunctional user interface, the 1-RU SmartPanel boasts a unique feature set that includes three high-resolution, sunlight-readable, multitouch colour displays; premium-quality stereo audio; a multilingual character set; and 18 keys. The powerful user interface can be further expanded through the use of apps such as the Intercom App, which transforms the SmartPanel into an innovative and smart intercom panel, and the MediorNet Control App, which effectively consolidates two panels into one for full intercom and control functionality.

Riedel will also demonstrate the new HandsFree App for its SmartPanel — the world’s first keypanel designed as a powerful multifunctional user interface.

StagetecStage Tec is presenting several new audio processing functions in AURUS platinum (pictured). All the new functions will be installed with software release 4.3. AURUS platinum will provide an auto mixer based on gain sharing. This auto mixer from Stage Tec is fully integrated into the console’s design and can be used in every input channel. All processing functions utilised previously will continue to be available in full. For better overview and more flexibility, the Stage Tec auto mixer provides four separate groups. Another new highlight is available in the AURUS platinum scene automation: It is now possible to configure crossfade curves and times individually for each channel.

StudiomasterThe Studiomaster digiLiVE 16 compact mixer (pictured) will be available in a rack-mount ‘black-box’ form-factor, with the introduction of the digiLiVE 16RS and self-powered digiLiVE 16P-600; both being shown for the first time in Europe.

Also being shown for the first time in Europe is an upgrade to the popular LIVESYS5 micro PA / powered monitor system; the LIVESYS5/S adds SD / USB record and playout, and Bluetooth playout. While two all-new class-D power amplifier series – the HX and QX – offer 2- and 4-channel models with top of the range power ratings in excess of 2 x 500 W and 2 x 9500 W, respectively.

With all of the features and flexibility of the digiLiVE 16 compact mixing console – and sharing the same 7” touchscreen and remote iOS app iPad operation – the new digiLiVE 16RS and self-powered digiLiVE 16P-600, are uniquely powerful, ultra-compact ‘black box’ style, rackmount digital mixers. Ideally specified and featured for a range of applications, including AV installations, small performance venues, music bars and houses of worship; or as a dedicated monitor mixing solution (especially when used with the iPad App).

Both of the new HX and QX digital power amplifier series fully exploit the compact form factor and considerable weight-saving and operational advantages of the very latest class-D technology. They offer new levels of power and performance, at highly competitive professional entry market (HX series) and premium market (QX series) price points.

universal audioIn close partnership with Solid State Logic, Universal Audio will unveil the new SSL 4000 E Channel Strip Collection for UAD-2 hardware and Apollo interfaces. UA’s team of engineers dug deep into the SSL 4000 E hardware, faithfully modelling the original preamp’s Jensen input transformers and DBX “gold-can” VCA output section. The SSL 4000 E Channel Strip Collection plug-in also supports Universal Audio’s Unison technology. There is also the new Moog Multimode Filter Collection for UAD-2 hardware and Apollo interfaces, which features an intuitive, full-featured, four-lane 16-step sequencer, giving electronic and dance producers unlimited creative potential, from melodic and polyrhythmic pattern programing to random chaos and cacophony.

The company will also be showcasing its latest software release, which features three new plug-ins – Softube’s OTO BISCUIT 8-bit Effects (pictured above), plus Brainworx’s bx_subsynth Subharmonic Synthesizer and Fuchs Overdrive Supreme 50 Amplifier plug-ins.

XTAXTA designed the APA-4E6 amplifier (pictured) and it will be at the show. It’s everything that makes the 4E8 model great, with a bit less power, but the same grunt, the company says. You still get the native 96k processing  including FIR support, full EQ suite with 18 bands per input, 9 per output, multi-stage ultra-transparent limiting, and the ability to source and send via Dante. Unused local processing and all inputs can be patched to other amplifiers on the network. Power-wise, it will deliver approximately 60 per cent of the output of an 4E8 model, so 2000W/Ch. into 8R rising to 3000W/Ch. into 2 and 2.7R loads, all channels driven.

The company also announced the release of a major upgrade to AudioCore – the remote control platform. This latest release says goodbye to a couple of big features – Array Control and Global Ganging – replacing them with enhanced grouping architecture which has been designed to work with the new MC2 Delta Series and APA.
