PL+S 2015: DPA Microphones knows which way the wind blows (VIDEO)28 April 2015
Two innovative products by DPA Microphones made their debut at Prolight + Sound earlier this month: the d:fine In-Ear Broadcast Headset Microphone and d:facto Interview Microphone.
The latest d:fine model is aimed at television hosts and guests who use in-ear monitors to communicate with producers backstage, combining a DPA-quality microphone with an in-ear monitoring solution. Available in several in-ear combinations and colour options, the unit comes with earpads in two different sizes and an adjustable headset mount. It is also possible to choose between left- and right-ear orientation, giving the broadcast host a ‘camera blind’ side.
The handheld d:facto mic features the omnidirectional 2006V capsule based on DPA’s original 2006 capsule but with sensitivity adjusted down 12dB to accommodate typical interview mic and wireless handle sensitivities.
In a refreshing take on the press conference process, CEO Christian Poulsen (pictured) talked about present and future expectations in the spheres of digital networking and wireless technology, before DPA’s Mikkel Nymand presented an illuminating, entertaining video short demonstrating the effects of wind noise on the d:facto Interview Microphone – and various models from the competition.
