PALME executives to head up new B2B networking venture

test 19 June 2007

UK: PALME Middle East/India exhibition pioneers Darren Brechin (pictured) and Iain McLean have announced the launch of their new company, Scattered Media. The UK-based operation intends to serve the entertainment and installation technology markets with a series of B2B networking forums set to begin in February, writes David Davies.

As executives with PALME organisers IIR Exhibitions’ Entertainment and Installation Technologies Group, Brechin and McLean played a pivotal role in establishing the PALME Middle East and PALME India exhibitions. Now they will bring their decades of collective experience to bear on a series of B2B networking forums, beginning with evenTech Scotland, scheduled to take place at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow from 20th to 21st February 2008.

“We have long recognised the need for an entertainment technology forum in the north of the UK, and Glasgow is the ideal location as Scotland in particular is currently experiencing unprecedented growth in tourism, leisure and commerce,” said Brechin, who will follow McLean’s earlier departure from IIR after this year’s PALME Asia show.

“We are very keen to listen to what the industry has to say,” McLean tells PSN-e. “We will conduct a consultation process with this show and then construct visitor campaigns around what our customers think is the right thing to do.”

Following the first evenTech event – which is being developed with customers in Scotland, the north of England and Northern Ireland in mind – Scattered Media aims to launch a programme of similar forums for the leisure hospitality industry in other countries, enabling professionals to keep up-to-date with technological changes and industry trends.

The news of Scattered Media’s inception follows another successful instalment of the PALME Middle East professional sound, lighting, music, AV and systems integration exhibition. Now regarded as a pivotal event on the international pro-AV calendar, the 2007 instalment drew more than 7,000 visitors to Dubai International Exhibition Centre over three days in May.
