Over 50 Lawo consoles mixing London 2012 Olympics

Billions of people worldwide are taking in broadcasts of the London 2012 Olympics events, originating in control rooms using Lawo consoles and routing systems.   Lawo’s mc²56, mc²66, mc²90, crystal, and sapphire consoles, plus Nova73 HD routing systems have played a behind-the-scenes role in the Opening Ceremonies at the London 2012 Olympics, and at sporting events including basketball, football, athletics, badminton, handball, gymnastics, table tennis, canoe/kayak, cycling, and beach volleyball.   At the International Broadcast Center, German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF mix Olympic event audio on mc²90 and a mc²56 consoles. They had prepared for the Games using a similar system for the UEFA Euro 2012 football championship.   YLE, the Finnish broadcaster, and SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster, are also Lawo equipped with a mc²66MKII console, various sapphire radio and production consoles, and a Nova73 HD.   Sapphires and crystals are also used in the London control rooms of Estonian broadcaster ERR. Similarly, Austria’s ORF is in London and using a mc²66 MKII mixing console.   Lawo systems are also helping to share the sports excitement throughout Asia, North America, and Australia. Korea’s KBS is using mc² consoles in their broadcast activities, Australian Channel 9/Foxtel is using various mc²66 and sapphire consoles as part of their efforts, and CTV from Canada, is utilizing sapphires for their sports coverage.   Lawo CEO Philipp Lawo commented on the company’s involvement in London, “As always with big sporting events, we are on site to support our customers in the best possible way.
