Orbital Sound sponsoring Yamaha training sessions at The ABTT Theatre Show 0729 May 2007
UK: Theatre sound-focused company Orbital has announced plans to sponsor dedicated digital mixing desk training sessions at next month’s ABTT Theatre Show. The courses will focus on “advanced solutions in contemporary theatre shows”, writes David Davies.
Centred around a Yamaha M7CL console, the sessions will cover topics including digital audio networking and scene management, in addition to exploring the creative possibilities of placing a modern digital console at the heart of a theatre’s technological specification.
Hosted by Orbital’s Simon Whitehorn and Sebastian Frost, the sessions will take place twice daily and will be offered free of charge to all ABTT Theatre Show attendees. Places are limited, however, so interested parties are advised to pre-register by emailing email@example.com.
“We’re delighted to be working with Yamaha on a subject as important as training,” says Orbital’s managing director, Chris Headlam. “It’s Orbital’s view that we must contribute to the future of our industry, and we are pleased to be able to bring an added attraction to the already excellent ABTT Theatre Show.”
The choice of the M7CL as the hub of the sessions is logical because “as a technical and financial package it has allowed far more mid-range theatres and music venues to benefit from the advantages of digital mixing,” says Yamaha Commercial Audio’s head of marketing, Karl Christmas. “Our job now is to teach this new raft of audio engineers how to make the most of their investment.”
The ABTT Theatre Show 07 takes place on June 13th/14th at the Royal Horticultural Halls, London. The Yamaha training sessions will be staged in Room 23, above the Lawrence Hall.
